Level 2 Practicum
Format:
Virtual (Zoom) practical sessions in small groups (max. 10 people) facilitated by the RLT faculty. Time commitment: 24 hours spread over 4-8 days of training. Different times and days are available for your convenience.
Content:
Put the theory of RLT Level 2 into practice working in small groups of max. 10 students, guided by the RLT faculty. Each practicum contains live lectures, video clips of Terry working with couples, group discussions, and role plays to dive deeper into the content.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants can expect to:
- Describe the three phases of RLT
- List the three main child-types of FOO
- Demonstrate the use of the Feedback Wheel
- Distinguish what Relational Life Therapy is and is not.
- Interpret the critical success factors of Relational Life Therapy such that you can begin to experience quick and profound progress with the most difficult couples.
- Compare and contrast the principles of various treatment models.
- Specify the framework and tools that form the basis of Relational Life Therapy.
- Utilize critical aspects of this model for working with individuals and couples.
- Construct empowering reframes.
- Identify reacting and modeling behaviors.
- Recite RLT stances, amplifying progress and dealing with resistance.
- Explain self-esteem.
- Explain relationality.
- Demonstrate what real intimacy looks like.
- Describe types of leverage.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn:
- Therapeutic stances: coaching stance, relational stance, and detachment from outcome.
- Phases of relationships.
- Transmission/reception work.
- Using the Feedback Wheel.
- The 5 Winning Strategies in relationships.
- Core Negative Image work.
- Holding yourself accountable while holding others accountable.
- The Relational Lenses.

Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers, MFTs (Advanced Training)
Cost:

Cancelation Policy:
If a participant needs to cancel or delay their practicum they need to provide at least 4 weeks’ notice to allow for another person to take their spot. If you cancel with less than 4 weeks of advanced notice you will be required to pay a $400 cancellation fee before signing up for a different practicum.

Grievance Procedure:
If a student believes they have been discriminated against, they can submit a written complaint that includes their name, address, phone number, location, date, and a detailed description of the issue. If a student with a disability disagrees with the accommodation provided or has any other grievances, they can schedule a meeting to discuss and attempt to find a solution together. If the student is still not satisfied with the accommodation after further discussion, they can contact the Operations Director for the Relational Life Institute (RLI), Lisa Sullivan, via phone, email, or mail. If the grievance cannot be resolved, the complainant will be advised to contact the appropriate Ethics Committee or Licensing Board. The Operations Director will keep all grievances and their resolutions confidential in locked files. A copy of this Grievance Procedure is available upon request.

- Course Dates will be provided when RLT Certification enrollment has begun.
This course is offered by invitation only during the Certification process.
PREREQUISITES: Students must complete Practicum 1, RLT Level 1 & RLT Level 2 Training Courses and enroll in RLT Certification to register.
