About Your Teachers

Desirae Ysasi, LPC-S

Director of Training and Certification for the Relational Life Institute

Desirae specializes in helping couples navigate complex challenges in their relationships, including recovering from affairs or betrayals, addressing intimacy issues, and improving communication. With a compassionate yet direct approach, she empowers clients to build authentic and joyful connections with their partners.

Desirae earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2006 and a board-approved Supervisor for LPC-Associates since 2012. Upon entering private practice in 2009, she has focused exclusively on relationship counseling.

By offering guidance and constructive feedback, she helps clients create transformative changes in their relationships. She works with relationships of all kinds—monogamous, polyamorous, dating, or married—and is passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ couples and culturally or spiritually diverse partnerships. Desirae’s relationship work extends beyond romantic partnerships, supporting adults who wish to strengthen family dynamics with parents, siblings, and other loved ones.

In addition to her clinical work, Desirae is the Director of Training and Certification for the Relational Life Institute. She became a Certified RLT Couples Therapist in 2018, training directly with Terry Real, the founder of RLT. Today, she oversees the institute’s global training program, teaching therapists and coaches worldwide to use this powerful relational approach.

Anna Sterk, LMFT, Senior RLI Faculty

A certified RLT therapist since 2017, Anna Sterk (she/her), is a senior member of the Relational Life Institute Faculty.

Her clinical career has been focused on systems and relationships from the beginning. She has worked in community mental health, eating disorder treatment, and private practice.

As she worked with couples and sexuality, Anna found that the way sex was discussed in trainings—and Western culture at large—didn’t match what she was seeing in her office. She drew on her history of training in feminist and cultural studies, integrated with her training as a systemic therapist, to find a way of working with couples—and sex and sexuality specifically—that really took root when she began studying with Terry Real in 2012

She found that RLT provided the framework, techniques, and skills that made the abstract ideas make sense and created the path that Anna’s life and work have taken since that first training. Anna is now at the forefront of shaping how RLT tools and principles can translate to sex therapy, helping transform our relationships to sex—both within ourselves and with our partners.

Julie Rudiger, LCSW

Senior RLI Faculty

Julie has been a licensed therapist since 1993 and was introduced to Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy in 2008. She became certified in 2010, and since then, her practice and personal life has transformed.

Julie loves the value of Full Respect Living, which is the tenant of RLT. Teaching clients and therapists the model remains the central focus of her practice. She loves the role of “coach” in teaching the skills. She believes most couples and individuals just need the education and tools to better care for themselves and their partners and families. Julie is also co-leader of the Relationship Boot Camp in Denver, which helps individuals and couples learn the skills in 2-day intensive workshops.

A senior RLT therapist and a member of the RLT Faculty, Julie is part of the team responsible for training mental health practitioners in the Relational Life Therapy method.

You will also receive a recording of a Relationship Bootcamp to support your presentations, plus a list of optional recommended reading around Terry’s work and RLT to deepen your understanding closer to the event.
