“We’re all wired to be relational and we’re all wired differently.”
– Terry Real
If you are working in – or curious about – Relational Life Therapy® (RLT) and how we can work more effectively with neurodiversity, this training is for you.
If you’ve ever sat with your clients and wondered…
Is this reactivity the adaptive child and family of origin – or is it their neurodivergence?
How do you know what’s changeable? How do I assess what can reasonably shift and what can’t?
What scaffolding can I provide to support my neurodivergent clients in this work?
We invite you to join the free training
Caron Starobin, LCSW-C, has worked with autistic people and their families since 2001, and in recent years with neurodiverse couples. Her work is grounded in family systems thinking, RLT, and years of training with experts in neurodevelopment and autism.
A practicing clinician for more than 26 years, Caron owns Starobin Counseling, a group practice in the D.C. metro area. Her neurodiversity-affirming mindset has been evolving for over 20 years. She has studied RLT since 2018, is certified in the model, and became a trainer at the Relational Life Institute in 2024. She also trained intensively in Family Systems Theory in the Post Graduate Program at the Bowen Center in D.C. She has presented and consulted nationally on intimacy and neurodiverse relationships and on neurodiversity-affirming therapy.
Terry Real is an internationally recognized family therapist, speaker, and author with more than 40 years of clinical experience working with couples and families.
He is the founder of the Relational Life Institute and creator of Relational Life Therapy® (RLT), and the New York Times bestselling author of Us, The New Rules of Marriage, and I Don’t Want to Talk About It.
Terry comes to the topic of neurodiversity through his own lived experience of late-diagnosed neurodivergence. And as Caron points out, that’s no small thing: RLT was built by a neurodivergent brain, which is part of why it works so well for differently wired minds.
“This information is invaluable and has helped me in real time with clients.
Please thank Caron Starobin, Terry, & the team for the amazing month of neurodivergent couple training 🙂 It’s been so personally validating as I’m autistic, a therapist trainee, and about 60-70% of my clients – both couples & individuals are ADHD/ASD/ or AuDHD.
This information is invaluable and has helped me in real time with clients as well as my own presence in the therapeutic settings. Thank you!”
— Jenny Rain
“I’m so thrilled that Terry proposed Caron teach a class on this.

You can still register – we’ll email you a link to the recording roughly two hours after the session so you can catch up.
While some training in Relational Life Therapy is beneficial, if you are curious about how the model works and how it can be adapted to working with neurodiversity, we think you will find it helpful.
This training is focused on how we can stay nuanced, affirming, and relational while working with neurobiological differences in couples therapy – not diagnosing clients.
Yes – Terry will join for the first 30-45 minutes of the session.
Please email us at support@terryreal.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
