You used to be able to let things go. The dishes stacking up in the sink, the way your partner half-listens when you’re talking – none of it got under your skin quite like this.
Now a wet towel left on the floor can send you from calm to furious in a flash. Afterward, the turmoil sets in: Where did that come from? Who even was that? Am I losing my mind?
What if the rage isn’t actually confusion. What if it’s clarity?
And when your partner reaches for you, part of you pulls away. You still love them. You just can’t remember the last time you wanted to be touched.
Meanwhile, your partner is just as lost, convinced that nothing they do is right anymore.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re far from alone. The divorce rate for adults over 50 doubled between 1990 and 2010*, and the message you hear everywhere is the same: you’ve outgrown this – just leave.
That’s the conversation Terry Real and Dr. Mindy Pelz are opening in this live 3-hour workshop. You’ll discover what’s really changing – in you and between you – and how to start reinventing a relationship that fits who you’re becoming.
As long as you’re stuck asking whether it’s your hormones or your partner, you’ll keep landing on the same two answers: fix yourself, or leave.
So much of what’s out there only looks at half the picture. One side tells you to treat the symptoms and you’ll calm down. The other tells you that your relationship isn’t enough anymore and it’s time to go.
Midlife brings a powerful neurochemical shift – and with it, many women find they can no longer swallow what they’ve swallowed for years. That’s not you becoming difficult. It’s you seeing clearly.
At the same time, the relationship you have was built for an earlier version of you, with unspoken rules about who accommodates, who smooths things over, and who goes quiet to avoid a fight. Those rules don’t fit anymore – for either of you.
You don’t have to choose between your voice and your relationship. When you understand what’s changing in you and what’s no longer working between you, you finally have something you can work on – together.
What if this is a chance to reinvent your relationship rather than leave it?
Learn what’s really going on – in your body, your mind, and your relationship – and the concrete next step you can take immediately to build a partnership that works for who you’re becoming.

Small things set you off in a way they never used to – being asked 'What's for dinner?' like it's never once crossed their mind, the sound of your partner breathing just a fraction too heavily, and suddenly you find yourself furious at someone you love.
You've lain awake asking – Is this me, or is it us? – and you're not sure you'd trust the answer either way.
You're done carrying more than your share – after years of biting your tongue, part of you wonders whether leaving would be easier than one more disappointing conversation.
Physical intimacy has started to feel like one more demand – you still love your partner, you just don't know where your desire went, and they're starting to take it personally.
You're the partner trying to understand – it feels like nothing you do is right anymore, and you want to know what's really going on, and if there’s hope for your relationship.
You're a therapist or coach – who wants to see how a women's health expert and a couples therapist approach midlife relationships together.
Whether you’re married or partnered, together ten years or thirty, in perimenopause, menopause, or beyond, attending on your own or side by side with your partner, this workshop will help you step out of the choice between staying miserable and walking away – and build something better.
If the workshop isn’t what you hoped, just email us at support@terryreal.com within 48 hours of the live session. The deadline for refund requests is 3pm ET on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Terry Real has been married to a fellow therapist for more than 40 years, and he’ll be the first to tell you that two therapists still lose it with each other. In a heated moment, one of them will sometimes look at the other, smile, and say, “I just want to thank you for this opportunity to work on myself.”
He isn’t preaching from up high – he’s on the same path of relational recovery as us – just a few steps ahead.
Over more than four decades as a family therapist, Terry created Relational Life Therapy (RLT) – an approach known for helping couples who were ready to give up find their way back to each other. He is a New York Times bestselling author whose work has been featured on Oprah and in The New York Times, Vogue, and Goop.
Dr. Mindy Pelz is a 2x New York Times bestselling author and one of the leading voices in women’s health, hormones, and longevity. For more than two decades, she has translated complex science into practical tools that help women work with their bodies instead of fighting them.
Her books Fast Like a Girl, Eat Like a Girl, The Menopause Reset, and her newest release Age Like a Girl have helped millions of women understand their hormones, master metabolic flexibility, and navigate perimenopause and menopause with clarity and strength. In Age Like a Girl, Dr. Mindy reframes midlife as a powerful neurochemical shift, not a decline. She shows women how to use the hormonal changes of menopause to reclaim their voice, reset their health, and step into leadership, purpose, and authenticity.
Through her top-rated podcast Live Like a Girl with Dr. Mindy (formerly The Resetter Podcast), a YouTube channel with over 110 million views, and her global Reset Academy community, Dr. Mindy has built a movement rooted in one core belief: your body is not broken, it is brilliant. Her work blends neuroscience, functional nutrition, and lived experience to give women a roadmap for healing, confidence, and long-term vitality.
Based in San Jose, California, Dr. Mindy holds a Doctorate of Chiropractic and approaches health through the lens of the nervous system and the body’s innate ability to heal. Her mission is clear. When women understand their biology, they rise. Aging is not a fade into the background. It is a return to power.
for Terry Real
“We really appreciate the experiences that renewed our marriage celebrating our 50th this year!
We participated in the RLT Staying in Love recorded program in September 2021 and also in the live Couples Experiential Workshop in January 2022. We have since been more patient and understanding with ourselves, each other, and even with other people in our lives.
Terry’s distinct philosophy of gentle honesty and mutual respect is a gem. What we learned about ourselves and each other has changed the way we think and live as a couple every day.”

“A 100% turn around on how I see my relationship and how I speak to my husband.
I was never taught how to be in an equal relationship and really needed to be told words/phrases on how to speak – i.e. to request rather than demand or direct. That was a game changer and easy once I was given words to use – I would have stumbled for months or years!”
Jan Moberg

“I’ve tuned into my body in a way I had never before.
“These past 6 months have been immensely transformational for me… I know how to hold and nourish myself the right way. What I have learned from this community is quite honestly priceless. The tools I have received from Dr. Mindy will be with me for a lifetime.”

“So liberating for me when I realize that I am the one who can change.
I loved Terry’s emphasis that you can only change yourself, not your partner. I now understand how my journey towards healthy self esteem has provided me with the perfect foundation to become a loving partner and to create the intimate relationship I have always desired.”

“I so LOVE my body and absolutely trust it as the incredible vehicle that it is.
I was born in 1945 and just turned 80! I spent so much time ignoring my body that there has been so much to undo and redo. My biggest gift and biggest challenge is learning about my body, learning deep and yet deeper listening. I have learned a lot over 3 years now… I’m in for another year with all of you beautiful people!”

Course Content: Couples Intensives offer a powerful, accelerated pathway for relational healing—but only when they are held with clarity, structure, and skilled relational authority. This advanced professional training is designed to support relationship therapists and coaches in leading Couples Intensives grounded explicitly in the Relational Life Therapy (RLT) model.
Across five live, 90-minute modules, participants will learn how to thoughtfully assess readiness for Intensive work (both client and clinician), design and structure Intensives using the three phases of RLT, and intervene effectively in high-stakes relational moments. Emphasis will be placed on therapist stance, pacing, accountability, and the Wise Adult leadership required to hold couples through deep emotional work without losing clarity or care.
Through didactic teaching, case vignettes, and live dialogue-based Q&A, this course will walk participants through the full arc of an RLT Couples Intensive—from initial assessment and Phase 1 joining, through Inner Child work, into sustained Wise Adult integration and post-Intensive follow-up. Practical considerations such as fee-setting, structuring Intensive days, post-Intensive care, and clinician self-care will also be addressed to support both impact and sustainability.
This course is designed specifically for relationship professionals who are trained in or actively using Relational Life Therapy and who wish to offer Intensive therapy experiences for couples or other romantic relationship structures. The content will focus exclusively on Couples Intensives through the RLT lens and will not address Intensive work with individuals, families, or non-romantic relationship systems.
Participants should expect an advanced-level training that assumes familiarity with core RLT concepts and invites deeper clinical discernment, relational accountability, and professional responsibility in this powerful modality.

Course Description
Terry Real presents RLI’s introductory training course, Relational Life Therapy Level 1.
Over five recorded classes you’ll be introduced to the powerful principals behind Relational Life Therapy (RLT) as taught by Terry Real. RLT Level 1 is designed to give you an in-depth introduction to the theory and practice of the RLT model.
During this course, students will discover the differences between RLT and traditional psychodynamic therapy. Also considered are the stances of “one-down shame” and “one-up grandiosity” in couples; according to RLT, true intimacy can only happen when partners are “same-as” with each other. RLT is about action and lasting results, helping people to make major changes to the negative parts of their character, and the critical role and stance of the therapist is described. Presented also are the concepts of Relational Mindfulness, Joining Through The Truth, and psychological patriarchy.
RLT Level 1 is the first step toward RLT certification and will prepare you for the Level 2 & 3 trainings to deepen your understanding of Relational Life Therapy.
